Grievance Procedure
The International Forgiveness Institute is fully committed to conducting all activities in strict conformance with the American Psychological Association's Ethical Principles of Psychologists. Compliance with these standards will be the responsibility of the instructor and the supervising clinical psychologist. Final oversight will be the responsibility of the president of the International Forgiveness Institute. While every effort will be made to uphold the highest standard in educational strategies and ethical standards, we acknowledge that occasions will arise where students will desire to file a complaint. Our procedures for such a complaint are as follows:
The instructor will be the first contact (under the supervision of the clinical psychologists who acts as the director of the continuing education program) and will ask for a written elaboration of the complaint to promote a mutual solution between instructor and student where possible. Complaints unresolved at this level will be forwarded to the supervising clinical psychologist for a mediation of possible solutions. Complaints that remain unresolved by the supervising clinical psychologist will be forwarded to the President of the International Forgiveness Institute.
Every effort will be made to address the student's concerns and maintain progress toward completion of the course. Appropriate accommodations will be made to adjust learning activities to address legitimate needs and concerns. Where the complaint makes progress toward completion of the course difficult or impossible, consideration will be given to partial or full refund of course or workshop fees. The maximum refund will be 90% of the course or workshop fee (10% will be retained to cover administrative costs). Refunds will be sent within six weeks of a decision.
Confidential records of grievances and the process of resolving the grievance will be filed by student identification number. A copy of this grievance procedure is available upon request.
